Poems To Go - Creating Memorable Poems, Speeches, and Toasts for Every Occasion!

Contemporary Vows Made for One Another

Vows are pledges that the bride and groom make to one another. Sometimes they can be contemporary while other times traditional. It is now possible for the officiant to be a close friend of the couple, rather than a Rabbi, Priest or Minister. Vows are performed at Commitment Ceremonies, Traditional Weddings, and at Vow Renewals. We write for all types of people. Taking into account the bride and groom's unique personalities, we'll write a loving poetic vow.

Amy, "How lovely this is. You've captured Wendy and Eric's personalities and these vows - in a poem - couldn't be sweeter. Best to you, Maria"

First comes the ring exchange, where the bride and groom pledge their abiding faith and love in each other. These rings are a symbol of the vows taken at the ceremony. Marking a new beginning, lots of emotions flow and sometimes the bride's ring can be a family heirloom passed down from generation to generatiion. It is a moving part of the ceremony. Then come the vows, which are truly special. Read the poem below.

Wedding Vow Renewal Example

The ceremony of marriage
Marks two lives becoming one
A truly defining moment
Of their future just begun

When I first joined this family
Benjamin was only nine
Much time has passed since then
And today much joy is mine

Although you’ve been a couple
For several years it seems
Today you make a vow
To forever share your dreams

Here at Longwood Gardens
We witness your “I do’s”
As Mr. & Mrs. Benjamin Koplow
You make your grand debut

You first spotted one another
At a nightclub here in town
The sparks began to fly
When Wendy turned around

I’m not sure which angle captured
Benjamin’s rapt attention
Her pretty face and smile
Or a view of her rear dimension

Benjamin will gladly tell you
Of his favorite Puerto Rican feature
A big butt for those not in the know
(Hope I don’t offend the preacher)

Wendy is of course much more
Than just a beautiful bride
Considerate, generous and caring
With a heart a mile wide

Yes the lady is quite passionate
Once revealed at Sunday dawn
When she got a wee-bit mad
And did donuts on Benjamin’s lawn

Benjamin, there’ve been rumors
You’ve let your guard down, too
Like when you’ve got trapped gas
Or are doing number two

It’s said that opposites attract
Which in some ways may be true
Compare the ever-mellow Benjamin
With Wendy and her Malibu

Wendy loves the movies
But Benjamin can hardly stay awake
And if you opt for seafood
Oh the meds he has to take

But ever more important
Are the things that you both share
Like the love you have for family
And the way you show you care

Perhaps you show that best
Through your little girls
Yes, Joshua and Eva
Have brightened all our worlds

Seeing that you already have
The most precious things in life
Today is like the icing
You're becoming man & wife

Love,

Maria
