Toast Sample

As the matron of honor at my little sister's wedding, I have to say that title is indeed accurate. I am SO honored to be here, with Joyce, to share her most special day. Joyce is just an extraordinary person. She always was, in fact. She's warmhearted, protective of those she loves and utterly dependable in every way. We shared a bedroom when we were little girls, and we shared so much of life. She and I are what you'd call "birds of a feather," and that phrase makes me think of Joyce and Danny having kids one of these days.

When Joyce was a kid she always thought that babies were born with feathered hair. Well, maybe it will be true in her case! I tell you, when she DOES have kids, those babies will be blessed to have a mother like her, a mother filled with love. I'll tell you something else, too: I'll be there for those kids as well.

Just like Joyce has been there for MY kids, Lorenzo and Douglas. When I had Douglas, my youngest, I had a hard and painful time. Guess who was there, right there in the delivery room? Yep. Joyce. She never let go of my hand, and she really got me through that most difficult time.

I'll never forget it. So many times, Joyce and I would talk about our childhood. How we played "toll man" and ate our apples and chocolate pudding at grandma's. Those days were great. And those memories bond my sister and me forever.

All of us, big brother Warren, myself and Joyce, we're all close. We all understand the value and importance of family.

And speaking of family, while I sometimes get sad thinking about "losing" my little sister, I also think joyfully about the brand new brother I'm getting as part of the deal. Danny is a great guy, and it warms my heart to see the love for HER that always shines in his eyes. I see something else in Danny that's wonderful, too.

The way he treats my kids, and how he relates to them as if they were his own. It's really special. He's got a wonderful heart. They've BOTH, Danny and Joyce, got wonderful hearts…and I couldn't be happier for them. I just want to add one thing and say that it's great to have all of you here with us, sharing in the joy of this day.
If one can predict the future as based upon the present, then I'd say that this marriage, based upon the feeling that's in this room, is golden forever. I ask you all to join me in toasting this special couple on this unforgettable day. To my sister, Joyce, and to my brother, Danny, a long, happy, love-filled life and all the good things that come with it.
