Religious Anniversary Poems - An Example
Dad built a Lazy Susan.
At dinner time, it spun,
Just like the years that now have passed,
One by one by one.
Fifty years of laughter,
Fifty years of love,
Fifty years of trusting in
God’s guidance from above.
Duets on the piano,
A ukulele’s strum—
Our house was full of music that
We’d whistle, sing, or hum.
“Blue Moon” and “Grandpa’s Whiskers,”
Perhaps “Anchors Aweigh,”
“I Had A Pal Named Mary…’
Each favorite Dad would play.
We’d practice the piano
With nobody in sight…
’Til Mom called, from the kitchen,
“That didn’t sound quite right.”
The sewing that Mom did for us
Made each of us feel blessed.
Each Spring, we picked the fabric
For our brand-new Easter dress.
July the twenty-fourth was great—
A time for pioneers.
Dad sewed Andrea’s bonnet
And we all gave three cheers.
He also made a choir dress
For Susie—she was proud
To have a dad who’s sew for her.
He stood out from the crowd!
“Many hands make light work,” as
My mom would wisely say
While we were peeling peaches.
It seems like yesterday!
We built a boat in our garage,
And launching it was keen,
But when we’d board, we wiped our feet,
’Cause Dad kept it so clean.
On Dad’s old Honda 90,
We loved to take a cruise.
We’d zoom along the hills and dales,
Complete with whoop-tee-doos!
Mom’s Sweet and Sour Chicken
Was great, and Sunday Roast.
And on our birthday, we could choose
The meal we loved the most.
But, best of all, our folks were there!
They made us their priority.
We vote them World’s Best Parents by
Unanimous majority.
They listened to us, dried our tears,
Encouraged each success,
And taught us honesty and pride.
In sum, they’ve stood the test.
The four of us have married, now,
And have kids of our own.
We strive to teach them what we’ve learned:
This is no place like home!
Happy 50th Anniversary, Mom and Dad!!!
