Reception Toasts
Catherine means so much to me -- in two very wonderful ways. In the first she's a dear friend. And in the second? Well, she's like the sister I never had. We're THAT close.
We go way back, Catherine and I. We met in the Philippines in 1976. She was working for my in-laws, cooking and cleaning and planting and, as always, doing them as well -- if not better -- than anybody else.
She took care of my kids, all four of them, when they were babies. She's crazy about my kids and they feel the same way about her. She's really special and loving and wonderful, and she deserves much joy in her life.
That's what this wedding is all about. Catherine and Norm first met in the 1980s. This warm-hearted, hardworking farmer and the sweeter than sweet housekeeper started to hit it off. Then she moved to America and they lost contact. Each went their way and lived their life. Then, just last year Catherine went back to the PI -- for a short trip. And during that trip, she and Norm met again, rekindled their love and…well…here we are.
It's a good thing they're married -- because now Norm finally has coverage under Catherine's medical insurance. That medical insurance will make life a lot easier for the happy couple. And it'll get Norm out of his sweaters and out of the house on occasion. What I mean is this: For the longest time, I'd notice that Norm kind of ALWAYS sits around, in a thick sweater, in front of the TV set. Once I had to ask him: "Norm," I said, "don't you EVER go for a walk? You know…check out the neighborhood and get some fresh air?" In his special and shy way, Norm said "No. Catherine doesn't want me to go out 'cause she's afraid I might get sick."
To such fun and dear and warm people, I say live a long and happy and wonderful life. Enjoy knowing you have medical insurance, yes, but live in good health anyway. You deserve it. You deserve a LOT of good things. Including the very best wishes from all of us. To you…dear Catherine and Norm…
