Poems for Deceased - An Example

Was there ever a man so sweet
As Reid, my husband dear?
How I loved that man,
Now I wish to make it clear.

He never said an unkind word,
Happiness was his style.
And he could light up any room
With that gorgeous, heartfelt smile.

He had such lovely eyes,
And a head of lush grey hair.
Life was always better
When my darling Reid was there.

We lived together nine great years,
All those times with our friend Liz.
Wine and music and laughter,
Reid was sure a wiz.

The years went by, all sweet,
Then marriage was finally for us.
We were both so scared to make that move,
"Why ruin a good thing?" Reid would fuss.

But marry we sure did,
And from the get-go it was great.
Living with Reid, and married…
It was always all first rate.

We'd go out with friends for lunch,
Always a true highlight.
Often we'd stay at home
And have ourselves a fun night.

Reid loved his favorite movies,
Like Pretty Woman and Ghost.
But most of all, James Bond,
Who's films Reid loved the most.

He loved our eating out,
At Mimi's and Macaroni Grill.
They, along with Carrabas,
Were always his favorites, still.

He loved his sports a lot,
Football, golf and the Pirates, too.
Sipping a nice relaxing wine
Was his favorite thing to do.

His only dislike was simple:
People who are rude or mean.
Reid was the sweetest and kindest man
That you've ever on this earth seen.

He had nicknames for all his favorites,
Like Bones, Noisy, Olive Oyl, too.
His favorite was Baby Kudos,
For his granddaughter, the things he'd do!

On her birthday and on Christmas,
He couldn't give her more.
In fact, the house would look just like
A toy department store!

He flirted with all the ladies,
For fun he'd always start.
No one can possibly compare with Reid,
In terms of the size of his heart.

I miss you so already,
You really stood the test.
Dearest Reid, I'll love you forever,
And forever, for me, you're the best.
