Meaningful Sympathy Poems

Any death produces a variety of emotions in friends and family. It's tough to know what to say to the bereaved. You don't want to intrude on their privacy but feel you should say something.

Take a look at this sympathy poem I wrote for a daughter-in-law who was making a memory book of her Father in law. She thought a customized poem would be a lovely touch. Dear Amy, "Thank you Amy! I just love it. It couldnt be any more special!

Here's another sample of a sympathy poem I wrote. I will even write for your pets. After all, they are a part of your family.

Poem of Sympathy - An Example

It's hard to know where to begin
Describing a man like Steve.
So full of life, of warmth and love,
A man you could always believe.

Up at dawn for pinnacle
Over coffee and tall tales,
His uniform of boots and jeans
In style from track to trail.

He loved his freedom and working hard,
Fresh air and the great outdoors,
Hunting, fishing, digging clams
On Grayland's sandy shores.

Also quite the handyman,
Steve built things so they would last,
His house, garage, projects for work,
His skills were unsurpassed.

And of course, his cranberry bogs,
All pieces of his soul,
Big and Little, Cindy's and Jim's,
The places that made him feel whole.

In his big blue truck with the windows down
And his classic “Bog 66” plates,
Everyone knew his smile and his wave,
The happiness he could create.

From taking kids on bog cart rides
To harvest festival tours,
Steve's honest passion for his work made him
The perfect entrepreneur.

He valued every single day,
Always took the world by the horns,
He made the most of each moment
From the day that he was born.

Yes, he truly found his niche in life,
The bogs were only a part,
His family time, his wife and kids,
Completely filled his heart.

He shared their laughs, their hopes and dreams,
Always warm if sometimes strict,
Though as the years rolled by,
The grandkids surely had him licked!

Steve's given us so many things
To remember with a smile,
Like his good old 7-Up tee shirt
That he wore with grace and style.

Or his quirky, charming pack-rat ways,
All the things he “just may need,”
And his old reclining rocking chair
Where he'd nap, relax and read.

We can't forget his taste in food!
Bendocalla and anything hot!
And the corner piece of the birthday cake,
The candy stash in his special spot.

But most of all, Dad gave us the gift
Of being in his life.
His thoughtfulness, joy and helping hands,
His dedication to his wife.

While we miss him every single day,
We cherish the times we shared
With a father, husband and a man
Who was truly beyond compare.

Love,

Sue
