Father's Day Poem Examples

Dear Dad,

First, I have such sad news for you --
The gorilla cannot sing,
And the belly dancer's busy,
So I'll present this thing.

I know -- you're just heart-broken!
You enjoyed them both so much.
But please, relax. Entrust yourself
To a loving daughter's touch.

It's Father's Day, and so I want
To tell you, from the heart,
Of things that we've appreciated
From the very start.

You've always been affectionate,
And you communicate.
Not every father bothers; it's
One thing that makes you great.

We know we can rely on you,
When we are in a jam.
That time when I ran out of gas
And called, 'Dad, here I am,

With kids and dogs -- We're stranded!'
You didn't scoff or flee,
Though when you finally reached us,
You shook your head at me.

And said, 'Nicky, Nicky, Nicky'
Well, that rescue was sublime,
And you got us to the airport
Just in the nick of time!

So many times, you've saved us
And shown how much you cared.
So many times, you've helped us
When we were lost or scared.

Your life's had its adventures
And challenges, that's true,
But since complaining's not your style,
You've always seen things through.

You take care of your body
And keep it toned and fit.
You take care of your intellect --
Including that sharp wit!

The music of George Gershwin
Can make you tap your toe.
(Just please don't sing along, Dad.
It hurts our ears, you know.)

A Lutheran, you live your faith,
And that's an inspiration.
Your goodness makes you stand out as
A cause for celebration.

The Red Sox and the Bruins,
Celtics and Patriots too --
For all of them, you cheer and shout,
A fan who is true blue.

You're tanner than George Hamilton.
(I also bet you're sweeter.)
Let's face it, Dad. Your attributes
Have made you a world-beater!

Your loving guidance sees us through,
Whatever trials we find,
So here's to you, the very best --
You are one of a kind!

Happy Father's Day!

Love,

Nicky
