Poems To Go - Creating Memorable Poems, Speeches, and Toasts for Every Occasion!

Rather than having a standard wedding, some people choose to elope! Some do it for money, while others just want a unique experience.

Such was the case with Ed and Carol. Both were on their second marriage, had families from the first and instead of a big wedding, they decided to elope!

As it was so last minute, there was no time to send out invitations and instead wanted to send a lovely poem after their elopement to their friends and family. I was so excited to help with this project!

Giving me as much as information as they could about their lives, I constructed their poem.

They said, "Amy, this poem is perfect, it's exactly what we want! You have such a talent, it's beautiful! Thank you so much, Love, Carol"

I would be pleased to write for you! Please contact me with any questions or comments here. Order your customized poem by using the link below.

Poems To Go - Creating Memorable Poems, Speeches, and Toasts for Every Occasion!

An Elopement Poem

Dear Friends and Family,

We're sending out this happy note
Hoping it will surprise you
We'll try not to draw it out
For that would tantalize you.

Carol thinks of May 7
As a very special day
While Ed recalls the 9th
In a very similar way.

So as a bond between us
In a serious way started spinning
We thought about a means for us
To make a new beginning.

We checked with Westminster Abbey
But they said they're booked right through
And Fenway Park turned us down flat
There was nothing they could do.

As far as we could see
The only thing that could divide us
Was that day between our birthdays
Which set off an idea inside us.

Since two days in May are special
On which we already celebrate
Let's get married on the day between
That would be really great!

The only problem we saw
With this brilliant plan of ours
Was that May was coming up so soon
Too soon to order flowers!

Or to figure out a guest list
Audtion bands or singers
For May 8th was coming so fast
We could count it on our fingers!

So our dreams were filled with ladders
Used to sneak away at midnight
Waking up a sleepy preacher
Who could marry us before the day's light.

As we thought about it more and more
It became our dearest, fondest hope
That friends and family would understand
Why we decided to elope!

So now as you read this,
The authors are Mr. and Mrs.
We hope to see you all real soon
And feel your hugs and kisses!
