A Christmas Letter Sample
Dear Friends and Far-Flung Family:
What a year of changes this has been (as many of you already know)! Twelve months ago, I was foot-loose, fancy-free
and lonely. Then, at a friends New Years Eve party, I met Jeremy.
The funny thing is, I almost didnt go. But Ive known Kate since grade school, so I hated to turn down her invitation. The party was specifically for her single friends, so at least I knew I wouldnt feel like a fifth wheel. (And besides, my sister -- yes, YOU, Sarah -- wouldnt stop bugging me until I said Id go.
Anyway, long story short, thats where I met Jeremy. He was standing by bookshelf (okay, sort of hiding in the corner by the bookshelf), and we clicked right away. I guess you could say we were two wallflowers who combined to make a great bouquet! We spent the first part of the evening going over the books on Kates shelves, comparing our likes and dislikes
and, by midnight, I knew that Jeremy definitely belonged in my likes column!
By Valentines Day, we were seeing each other on a steady basis. By Independence Day, I knew that I didnt want to be independent anymore. And on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, we had something REALLY special to give thanks for -- our wedding!
So now were preparing for our first Christmas together. We picked out a tree (after settling the debate of live vs. cut vs. artificial), we decorated it (after settling the debate of colored lights vs. all white), and wrapped our gifts (while debating over opening them on Christmas Eve vs. opening them on Christmas morning). LOL -- Tis the season to negotiate!
But one thing needs no negotiation: the joy of our love for each other. In this season of loving and giving, we wish the same to all of you. (And, Kate, youll find a little extra something from the two of us under your tree!)
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,
Kara and Jeremy
