Candle Lighting Ceremony Poems - An Example
On this great occasion,
My bar mitzvah day.
I'm just so pleased to celebrate
With you in every way.
Candle lighting is part of it,
So if your name I call,
Please come up, light a candle,
And together, we will stand tall.
The first candle is in memory
Of 2 folks I really adore.
My Grandpa Arizona
And Aunt Tangi, who could ask for more?
Grandpa was an ex-Marine,
Football and history, he loved 'em so.
Aunt Tangi had a mile wide smile,
She loved parties, always on the go.
Grandma Arizona,
I see her 5 times a year.
Her visits are always special,
She really is a dear.
She wears a lot of bling,
A sun worshipper, it's true.
Come on up Grandma Arizona,
Please light candle 2.
Grandma and Grandpa Missouri,
I love working on your farm.
Fishing, hanging out with grandpa,
It's always full of charm.
Grandma's chocolate cake,
Is the best, you'd plainly see.
Grandma and Grandpa Missouri,
Please come light candle 3.
Next my little brother,
Maxwell is his name.
He's not just my little brother,
He's my best friend just the same.
We laugh it up at dinner,
He's my electronics guru, for sure.
Hey, little bro, come on up,
Let's light candle 4.
Aunt Norma and Uncle Warren,
You guys are cool, for real.
Our trips to Turks and Caicos,
Are simply one great deal.
Whenever we get together,
The laughs really come alive.
Come on up, you two,
Please light candle 5.
Uncle Max. Aunt Martha
Our Chicago contingent, yes.
Always so much fun,
They truly are the best.
Uncle Max sends presents,
Aunt Martha is always so sweet.
Candle 6 for the couple
That really can't be beat.
Aunt Carole Marie, Abby and Steve,
Fro Missouri, the Show Me state.
You guys are so much fun,
You really are first rate.
Pizza, fire works, arcade fun,
It really feels like heaven.
Come on up, you folks,
Let's light candle 7.
Sandy and Eddie from Arizona,
It's fun swimming in your pool.
Riding bikes in the neighborhood,
Really always cool.
Sandy has a big, big heart,
Eddie is really great.
Come on up and light it,
I mean candle 8.
Now it's time for the Silverbergs,
Baba, Pop and my 2 aunts, such fun.
I mean Julie and Barb,
As fun as anyone.
Our outer banks vacations,
Silly stories, water balloon fights,
Come light candle 9,
Let's get it in our sight.
Aunt Janet is Mom's best friend,
So funny, she loves jokes a lot.
She's the dearest friend
That my mom has got.
Pokes such fun at everything,
Really does love Cher.
Come light candle 10,
Do it…if you dare.
Uncle Mike lives in Illinois,
Got 2 dogs, Jack and Sky.
He lets me run all over his house,
He's really quite a guy.
We go out to the farm,
And to Ducks Unlimited we go.
Uncle Mike for you,
Is candle 11 you know.
Aunt Lisa, it's really wild,
We've lived together everywhere,
Arizona, Chicago, New Jersey,
It seems anyplace we care.
Baking cookies together,
Lots of fun always,
Come light candle 12,
It'll really make our days.
Aunt Rochelle would drive me
Always to Hebrew School,
She makes those chocolate dipped pretzels,
And boy, I'll say they're cool.
I'm taller than Aunt Rochelle,
I'm already five foot eight.
No matter, Aunt Rochelle,
Light candle 13 -- 'cause you're great.
Now a bunch of families,
Great as anyone knows.
The Monettas, Goodmans, Farins,
Palmers, Halperns and Loews.
Can't forget the Kates',
And the Rubins, too.
Everyone, candle 14,
Belongs to all of you.
The very last candle now,
For all my true, dear friends.
In honor of our friendship,
Let's make sure it never ends.
Come on up, dear pals,
You're the best is what I mean.
Let's do it now, at last,
Come up, light candle 15.
