A Toast to Parents
Dear Mom,
My wedding day is here,
A little hectic, a little calm.
But in between it all
Some words of love for Mom.
My Mother is, well, extraordinary,
One word that says it all.
She's just the best, what can I say?
She's always standing tall.
Mom always was a fixer,
No matter what the notion.
When I was little my feet would hurt
And she'd anoint them with "magic lotion."
Just regular ointment, all it was,
Applied with a mother's touch.
Her love would take the pain away.
Magic? I'd say it was such.
She always put the kids first,
Would give us all she got.
To Mom, family means just everything.
She'll always give a lot.
When I go to Mom to visit,
I leave with a bag of her food.
That bag is also filled with love,
Mom's always in a giving mood.
Honestly? She's my very best friend,
If I'm sick or I'm sad, she's there.
No one helps like my Mother.
No one shows all that care.
She's got a great sense of humor, too,
A funny story and mom laughs forever.
She'll take her laugh to any locale,
Or any kind of endeavor.
Mom speaks her mind like no one else,
She tells you how she feels.
No prima donna my Mother dear,
She's always courageous -- and real.
She's a beauty any way you see her,
Inside and out, a delight.
She wears great clothes, looks lovely.
With Mom it's always all right.
A perfect day with Mom
Is a Chinese lunch and talk.
Then afterward a special treat,
Chocolates from Gertrude Hawk.
If I can't go out for dinner,
Mom brings the meal home for me.
She's really just perfection.
But I guess you folks can see.
Her back rubs, Slingo and soulful chat,
Are golden in all the good ways.
Mom, I don't know if I've told you:
You never cease to amaze.
Even today, my wedding day,
I'll think of you with greatest feeling.
When they made you, Mom, they broke the mold,
With your loving - and your healing.
So please, accept my gratitude,
And my love for all that you are.
Just know with utmost certainty,
You are always my shining star.
I love you!
Love
Tonya
