Birthday Poems to Mom - An Example

Diana Morris, greatest mom
To ever be alive.
Now we celebrate your birthday
Which is number seventy-five.

Hard to believe the years fly by,
This life we dig and delve.
Mom is so extraordinary,
Alone she raised us twelve!

Yes, a dozen kids, a true blue brood,
Mom did it all alone.
Dad had passed away you see,
We were, hey, down to the bone.

Six boys, six girls, all of us,
But we never went without.
Mom managed -- and much more,
She's incredible, no doubt.

She kept us all together,
Fed and clothed us, too.
Remarkable, in retrospect,
Our thanks? We've said a few.

In fact, now that we kids
Are grown -- with kids all of our own,
We can appreciate with clarity
All the wonders mom has sown.

She had an old wring washer,
Endless diapers on the line.
But hey, we got along,
In fact, we did just fine.

It seems as if the whole thing
Came down to faith in the Lord.
Mom has always been a believer,
The Church granted full accord.

God, our home was incredible,
Noisy starts and fits.
And our wonderful dogs, among them,
Dearest Brutus and Sweet Fritz.

Mom wasn't the best of cooks, though,
Somewhat willy-nilly.
Took canned spaghetti and beans,
And she actually called it chili.

She's got a mane of gorgeous grey hair,
How lovely, yes it is.
Mom, you're purely magic,
Our very own family wiz.

Mom's still right here, supporting us,
In every way she will.
Her time, her heart, her courage.
Inspiration? She's a thrill.

You taught us how to cook and sew,
And function - always strong.
You counseled on the good life,
Taught us right from wrong.

You're all about so many things,
Like unconditional love.
You're golden as the sun,
You shine like stars above.

On your birthday, mom,
Our love we do avow.
You're just the best in every way,
Forever, then and now.

Love,

Sheila
