A Birthday Happy Poem Example

Dearest Barry,

You're such a sport that our first date
Was to a Celtics' game
And ever since that night, my life
Has never been the same.

You're thoughtful and considerate
To friends and family,
And that is just a fraction of
How sweet you are to me.

Still, everybody has their faults
(Yes, even you, my mate),
And though you're always loads of fun
You're also often late!

But maybe that's because no clock
Can dictate who you are.
Free-spirited, I know that you
Will always travel far.

Take me along - that's all I ask,
To journey at your side,
Your cohort and accomplice,
Your lover, wife and bride.

The worst of times that we've been through
Have shown you at your best.
After I had my accident,
You rarely got to rest.

You bathed me, dressed me, helped me eat,
With never a complaint.
You stood by me through thick and thin,
As patient as a saint.

We also share great memories,
Like that Hawaiian dawn.
And remember how you parasailed
While I looked safely on?

Although you're up for eating out,
You're sometimes hard to please.
Your tastebuds, oh so critical,
Can bring chefs to their knees.

So if you ever find a place
So good it makes you moan,
I think you'll have to buy it, dear,
And run it as your own.

When asked for your achievements,
There is no need to look spacey;
Our very best creations were
Our Amy and our Stacey.

And they, in turn, have carried on
With Benjamin and Sara,
And Eli, Kira, Jocelyn—
Kids don't come any fairer.

Although you love your poker game,
And theater, and antiquing,
Your very favorite times are with
The grandkids, hide-and-seeking.

And so it is no wonder that
You've made my life a thrill.
Your family adores you, and
You know we always will.

Years matter less than 'mileage'
When you scan a life's career.
You've given us the scenic route
And we love you for it, dear!

Happy 65th Birthday!

Love,

Elinor
