Baby Shower Thank You Poems - Example

Such giving friends you all have been,
I felt the need to find
An extra ‘thank you’ I could send,
To show what’s on my mind.

Brave Nancy opened up her home
(That’s what great friends are for),
In league with her three cohorts,
Debbie, Dawn and Elinor.

Three generations of my clan
Were there to see me through:
My mom, my sister, my first-born,
And Daughter Number Two.

And many buddies gathered there –
A quarter-hundred came!
I gazed into each smiling face
And called them all by name.

Was I surprised? You bet I was!
This baby’s Number Three,
So I’m amazed by such a show
Of generosity.

For those of you who brought a book
You used to know and love,
You’ve helped my son find tales that fit
Just like a hand and glove.

And we were kids ourselves, that day.
The memories won’t fade
As I recall your happy smiles,
And all the games we played.

“Come do your best to estimate
The candies in this jar!
Play ‘Price Is Right’ to guess how much
These basket-goodies are.”

If someone had been watching us,
They’d think us crazy, maybe,
Collecting pacifiers
Every time someone said ‘Baby.’

We dined on dip of artichokes
And salad of our choice,
And then (come on, admit it),
Those desserts made us rejoice.

With carrot cake and chocolate mousse,
We launched a sugar high,
And being with my friends was sweet
As any lullabye.

I won’t name every gift (’cause that’s
What thank-you notes are for!),
But here is just a partial list
Of what I had in store:

A gown and robe for me to wear,
A bouncy chair, a swing,
And then, to match the room’s décor,
Stuffed horses – just the thing!

A handprint kit, a scrapbook kit,
A stroller and car seat…
I’ve barely scratched the surface,
For the gifts you gave were sweet.

But, better still, you came and gave
The precious gift of time.
By being there, you’ve earned a place
Within this grateful rhyme.

They say it takes a village
To raise up a girl or boy.
Dear friends, you are my village,
And you’ve filled my heart with joy.
