60th Anniversary Poem Example

Mom and Dad, Doreen and Jack,
Hey, where does the time go?
It’s your 60th anniversary,
That’s big news – as we all know!

You’re both amazing people,
One really must admit.
When they made the mold for greatness,
The two of you did fit.

Like dad, who ‘cause of polio
Learned he’d never take one more step.
So he went to a bachelor party
And came home astride with pep!

Or mom who had a weenie roast
With some clown named Irving Finkle.
Nonplussed, she went with dad instead,
The plan worked sans a wrinkle!

They’re quite a pair the two of them,
Looking greater than them all.
Mom is short and lovely,
Dad, so handsome, and he’s tall.

To be together 60 years,
Well, you know what I mean,
It helps to have in common
A sense of shared routine.

For mom it’s laundry Monday,
And Tuesday, she plays Pan.
Dad has his stuff, too, you know,
He’s Mr. "Routine Man."

Eats cereal every Saturday,
Thursdays are oatmeal.
Just don’t steal his peanut butter
Or his wrath you’ll surely feel.

They both listen to music
And they’re football fans, it seems.
But they root as individuals,
Each for his – or HER – own team.

They’re proud parents of 3 daughters,
Marsha, Cathy and Linda too.
Grandkids in true great numbers,
And now, GREAT grandkids – so nu?

Amazing how they met,
Dad was 3, mom was 2.
It was at a birthday party,
Since then, their love…it grew.

At 50 years dad gave to mom
A tennis bracelet, diamond bright.
Mom gave dad a new wedding band
Both sparkled out of sight.

Then they took the children,
With their families, one and all,
On a cruise to the Bahamas,
To celebrate – what a ball!

The folks, they love to travel,
For them it’s the real deal.
That Mediterranean cruise was tops,
So was a trip to Israel.

Now it’s 60 years of marriage,
Half a century plus ten.
I’m sure there’s love equal to theirs,
But I don’t know where or when…

So mom and dad, Doreen and Jack,
Please know that it’s a thrill,
To celebrate this occasion
And to look forward – still.

To many more years of happiness,
Peace, joy and lots of health.
Just know that you mean all to us,
Our hearts, our love, our wealth.

From everyone, a wish for love,
Hey, what are families for?
But most of all, we wish for you,
Golden years – 60 more.

Love,
Your loving family
