50th Anniversary Poems - An Example
Now we mark a big occasion
Lucky couples face.
The 50th wedding anniversary
Of Uncle Howard and Aunt Grace.
You’ve always been the favorites
Of all your nephews and your nieces.
The fact is that we truly
Just love you both to pieces.
Grace was a big city girl,
Howard a pure farm boy.
Opposites attracted,
And the result was just pure joy.
Howard’s farm was out at Thamesford,
And something quite contrary,
For Grace who worked once at a bank
And was now involved in dairy.
They raised pigs and hens and cows,
And something else in their midst.
They also managed very well
To raise three super kids.
Catherine was the first,
Then Sandra followed suit.
The youngest was son, Harvey,
All great kids to boot.
Now, ol’ Howard and Grace
Are grandparents as well.
There’s Stacey Lee who’s sixteen,
And Jason Harvey who’s also swell.
Through the years this happy clan
Enjoyed all kinds of trips.
Manitoulin Island, PEI,
And lots of other pips.
In Europe, Grace was treated
To something you’d love to see.
There, at Buckingham Palace,
She attended the Queen’s high tea.
They’re just outstanding people,
So charming and down to earth.
An aunt and uncle like those two?
Can’t tell you what it’s worth.
Always had a load of interests,
From lots of different sources.
Grace shops and reads and gardens,
Howard showed Clydesdale horses.
They’re very big-time Masons,
With Masters totaling eighty-one.
It’s all been truly fascinating,
And always lots of fun.
They love to dance and music
Is a pleasure in their life.
For this most engaging man
And his sweetheart of a wife.
In fact, that’s how they met
At a London Arena dance.
A Friday night soiree,
They gave love a chance.
Now, half a century later,
After all these years of love.
It’s clear, the sun still shines on you
With brightness from above.
So Aunt Grace and Uncle Howard,
With all the very best,
And wishes for many more years
At each other’s wondrous behest.
