50th Anniversary Poem Example

Stop the presses, call the news!
There's something big in Santa-Cruz
It’s so cool, it’s really nifty,
Joyce and Herman…are fifty!

Dear Mom and Dad, it’s hard to believe
That time can fly so fast.
You’re married fifty years
We could plotz – we’re all aghast!

Karen, Laurie, Helen and Paul,
Hey, we’re all so proud to note
This wonderful occasion
Folks, we’re kvelling…hey, let’s gloat!

We’ll never forget that wondrous tale
Of your marriage in ’54.
It was a cold and stolid December day
Ahh, yes, we remember more.

How the caterer said to Dad
I’ll cook up anything to your taste.
Good old Dad hit a high note:
"I’ll take a burger!" he said with great haste.

And Dad for all his time
Loves sports – it’s in his lexicon.
He loves the Yankees as much
As he HATES eating Mexican!

Meanwhile Mom, she loves to shop
And she’s a pack rat in betweener.
Good God it’s true, she still holds on
To Bubbie’s vacuum cleaner.

Now Dad is bald and hot of blood,
He’s always been the same.
How many times has he hit the roof
And gotten thrown out of various games?

Like yelling at baseball umpires
Or b-ball referees.
He even yelled at hapless coach Steve
At Dena’s softball game…oh, puleeze!

But he’s not so rough and tumble
When the subject is his grandkids.
He gets so soft and teary eyed
Whenever they’re leaving his midst.

The fact is Mom and Dad
See those kids as golden light.
Douglas, Michael and Joe
In their hearts are shining bright.

Of course there’s Jan and Jill
And dears Beatrice and Francoise.
These kids for Joycie and Herman
Are precious as a Turkish pasha.

And while the generations
Go far through ever miler,
Let’s not forget the GREAT grandchild,
A sweetie known as Tyler.

But back some half a century
To history’s bare nub.
We take you now to a golden place
It’s…YES! Andre’s Tick-Tock Club

T’was here that Mom and Dad
Had their fabulous first date.
A meeting of pure destiny
Of golden blossom fate.

That covers it, dear parents
To you from all of us,
We wish you lots more joy, oh yes,
And peace, and health, and thus.

For Dad, more years of crosswords,
For Mom more mah jong tiles.
For both, more joy and "naches,"
And endless cherished smiles.

So on this day of glory
When joy is seen in tears.
Our wish for you, our dear ones
Is another fifty years.

Love and Hugs!
Karen, Laurie, Helen and Paul
