40th Birthday Greeting - A Sample
What do you know, it's really true,
Jonathan Murray, the runt of our litter,
Finally turning forty,
Our group has never been fitter!
Got a truly wonderful family,
Wife Michelle and three great kids.
Connor, Kyle and Grace,
Let's celebrate, flip our lids.
Jonathan and Michelle first met up
During that fun-filled Bay Head summer.
After Labor Day it was over,
Man, that was a bummer!
He graduated Dickinson College,
Then on to Merrill Lynch,
Lending dough to private equity firms,
For Jonathan, success is a cinch.
He drives to work each day
In his Infiniti M35.
Loves that car with a passion,
Like the happiest man alive.
He's really into cars,
His interest will never lag.
If his nose isn't in the Journal,
It's poking in "Car and Driver" mag.
Of course if finance didn't cut it,
He'd find a great position
In another area of talent:
He's a master of demolition.
This I know because he helped
Implode my first Summit house.
When it comes to rampant destruction,
Jonathan's a tiger, not a mouse.
Jonathan and Michelle are fundaments
To our classic dinner group.
With Betsy and me and the others,
Ten years from nuts to soup.
Jonathan runs to stay in shape,
Black GI Joe hair on his head.
A soccer coach as well,
For kicks that serve his stead.
We spend a yearly fishing weekend
At John McCarthy's spread.
Jonathan, remember Big John's Pub?
We thought those bikers'd kill us dead.
If you want to have some fun,
Call up Jonathan and come around.
Just do it at a time
When Dave Goodale's not in town.
'Cause if he is, forget it,
Jonathan'll be into hanky-panky,
At his favorite place of culture,
Where the host is a guy named Spanky.
He's truly a movie buff,
Into music, art and sports.
As great guys go, Jonathan heads the list,
He's never out of sorts.
So Jonathan, ol' pal, good neighbor, bud,
Hitting forty is all it appears.
We wish you luck, peace, health and joy
For at least another sixty years.
